Maureen Carlson’s Class: ” Dream Weaver Icons “

One definition of an icon is an image or depiction that represents something else of greater significance.  In this class you’ll create a wearable icon that represents a dream or goal.  The “secret” removable mask adds a dreamlike theatrical element.  This project has several steps, but each step is very simple.  We’ll begin with plain white clay, then add a variety of textures and a push mold face.  After baking, pendants will be colored with alcohol inks, markers and acrylic paint.  Optional beads and fibers may be added.  Specific techniques learned will be how to tweak molded faces to produce a variety of images and how to work with alcohol inks and markers on polymer clay.

Judy Belcher’s Class : ” Canes and more Canes!”

In this fast paced, fun class we will learn why a Skinner Blend forms the amazing array of color hues and why it brings depth to any cane.  Using the clay from this exercise, we will form many basic canes that will then be combined and layered into an amazing number of more complex canes. While you will not go home with a finished project , you will go home with the canes and knowledge to make your own fabulous artwork. There will be many examples and demonstrations on cutting perfect slices, forming sheets, and tips and tricks for well handcrafted and beautifully finished jewelry, buttons, housewares or whatever your interest is.
